Getting started
Is it really free, or is there a catch at download?+
No catch. Filling, signing, downloading and sending back are free. You will never fill a form and then hit a paywall, and we never ask for a card to download your own document. Pro is for people who autofill packets or send documents every week.
Will I get charged after a free trial?+
There is no trial, so there is nothing to forget to cancel. If you choose Pro, the price says exactly what it bills, we email you a week before an annual plan renews, and you can cancel in one click with no cancellation fee.
My PDF says I need the owner password to save. Will it work?+
Yes. Many official forms carry an edit restriction that blocks typing and saving on phones and in some readers. Open it here and fill it normally. A PDF that needs a password just to open still needs that password from the sender.
Filling and signing
What kinds of PDF work?+
Any PDF. If it has form fields, they are highlighted and you type straight into them. If it is flat, click anywhere to type. Scanned images work the same way as flat PDFs.
Does it keep the original font?+
Form fields use the font the form defines. Text you add to a flat page is Helvetica, sized to fit.
Can I do this on my iPhone, Android or Chromebook?+
Yes, in the browser, with nothing to install. Tap a box to type, tap Sign to draw with your finger, then Send it back.
Sending
How does one-click send work?+
Click Send it back, add the recipient, and send. With Gmail connected it goes from your own address. Otherwise it goes from us as "Your Name via BettrPDF" with your email on reply-to, and you get a copy.
What does the recipient see?+
Your email, the signed PDF attached, a link to a copy kept for 30 days, and one plain line: Signed with BettrPDF.
Is there a sending limit?+
Free accounts can send 20 emails a day, Pro 200. The limit exists to stop spam, not to sell upgrades.
Autofill
Do I need an account?+
Not to fill, sign and download. Sending needs a free account, which takes ten seconds and no card, so the email can come from you and we can stop spam.
What gets sent to the AI?+
Only the source you add and the labels of the fields to fill go to Claude. The PDFs being filled stay in your browser, and nothing is used to train models.
Can it make things up?+
It is told to fill only what the source states and to leave everything else blank. Every value is shown with where it came from, and you can edit or untick any of them.
Pricing and privacy
Is there an envelope cap?+
No. Free includes 25 signature or document requests a month, enough for a full new tenant, a renewal batch or a new hire. Pro has no cap and no per-envelope fee, and requests you sent that nobody signed never count against you twice.
How much is faxing?+
$5 a fax of up to 30 pages, $20 for 5 or $50 for 15, and your first fax is free. Credits never expire and a fax that fails is refunded automatically. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
How much is certified mail?+
$17.99 a letter up to 20 pages ($24.99 for 21 to 59), including printing, the envelope, USPS Certified postage, an electronic return receipt, tracking and a proof of service PDF. Add a First-Class copy of the same letter for $2. Paid once per letter; if the address is rejected you are refunded automatically.
Does it send from my own email?+
Yes, if you connect Gmail. The email comes from your address and lands in your Sent folder. Without a connection we send it for you, with your email on reply-to and a copy to you.
